Mohamed Soliman, Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar in Aging at the University of Toronto, has been awarded the Adel S. Sedra Distinguished Graduate Award by the university.
The award is given annually to a graduate student who demonstrates outstanding academic and extracurricular leadership, both inside and outside the university.
Soliman received the award for his exceptional research on suppressor proteins and their effect on cell aging, an area with important ramifications for cancer research. Soliman is the co-author of a paper on the regulation of SHC proteins—important prognostic markers for some types of cancer—that is currently under revision at the prestigious journal Science.
